Our surface fast emissivity model is evaluated by comparison with satellite observations and other ocean emissivity models Surfem‐ocean extends the capability of fastem It covers a large frequency range, and provides better precisions for cold sea surface temperatures, and high ocean wind speeds compared to the previous model.

An international team of scientists, with backgrounds in radiative transfer modeling, data assimilation, field campaigns, space agencies, and instrumentation, developed a reference quality model for ocean surface emission and backscatter.
Add a new storeemisrefl option and accessor functions to obtain surface emissivity/reflectance values used in the simulations so that the input emissivity/reflectance values are not overwritten.
It is based on the parmio physical model (the configuration of parmio has been presented in the previous presentation). Parmio will be our physical reference model, and the fast version will be developed by using parameterizations based on neural networks (nns). The international space science institute (issi) sponsored a multinational team to develop new model capability.
